About Me

I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Boston University and a Master's degree in Social Work from Fordham University. In addition to being an acupuncturist, I am a licensed clinical social worker and also a licensed substance abuse counselor.

I spent two years studying Chinese medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NYC, but after having a child and being pregnant again made the schedule too difficult for me. I transferred to Tri-State College of Acupuncture where I received a Master's degree in Oriental Medicine, became a licensed acupuncturist and studied Chinese herbology with Andy Gamble, co-author of the Chinese herbology bible, the Materia Medica.

In 2005 I became certified in the NADA Protocol (National Acupuncture Detox Association) to provide auricular acupuncture for the treatment of chemical dependency. The protocol is used worldwide for a variety of issues including stress and anxiety and other addictions such as eating disorders and smoking cessation which fits nicely with my substance abuse background, but also with my goal of helping women relax as much as possible as fertility challenges can create a lot of physiological and emotional stress. Since I am a licensed acupuncturist, I usually do full body acupuncture with my patients, however this certification enables me to supervise non acupuncturists who have received the formal training in their work setting such as a chemical dependency clinic.

In 2006 I studies with Alice Domar, Ph.D. of Harvard Medical School and became certified to provide her 10 week mind-body program for fertility. Dr. Domar is a well known, published author and one of the pioneers of today's acceptance that stress can play a major role in infertility. It was her work with the mind-body connection coupled with the (finally) scientific evidence that acupuncture can relieve stress and anxiety that led Boston IVF to be the first fertility clinic to offer acupuncture to patients.

Today I have a private acupuncture practice in Old Greenwich, CT. All of my patients are trying to get pregnant and the average age of the women is 34-36. The oldest woman that I have worked with who got pregnant for the first time was 42. I meet with my patients and their partners in a couples counseling setting, but I do not work with both. If you are a woman trying to get pregnant I will work with you, but if your significant other can benefit from treatment I will refer to another practitioner.

In my spare time :-) I am a social worker in the addiction and recovery unit of Greenwich Hospital and I also volunteer with Neighbor to Neighbor.
